Who we are
The Dolam Children’s Home Trust is a non-profit community based welfare organization (WO 184) which was founded in 1999 and became fully operational in 2001.
The DCHT was started by a concerned woman and human rights campaigner for women and children’s rights, and current boardmember, Ms. Rosa Namises. In 2001 the DCHT became fully operational and then in 2003 it expanded when the Ministry of Health & Social Services and the Women and Child Protection Unit referred children for shelter and temporary care. These referrals have continued to date and has resulted in more than 250 children seeking shelter at the Dolam Children’s Home.
The house caters for both girls and boys between the ages of 6 to 19 who live and experience difficult circumstances, all of which are placed through court orders or 24 hour detention orders with the intention of follow up for further referral placement and/or reintegration with families. These children come from a range from orphans to vulnerable and have histories of rape, severe child neglect and more.
